Ten Percent & Catholic Diocese – Companion Growth Supportive Service
In October 2023, the foundation successfully launched the ” Ten Percent & Catholic Diocese – Companion Growth Supportive Service
“. The foundation’s team is fully responsible for everything from planning, contacting schools, to curriculum design, enrollment materials, recruitment of supervisors and mentors, and volunteers. Special courses, etc., are all run by the foundation’s team.
This program is a program jointly organized by the Foundation and five Catholic diocesan primary schools. It mainly provides primary school students with 2 to 3.5 hours of after-school support and growth planning services every day.
Each primary school serves 20 students each year and provides after-school support to more than 100 students.
Ten Percent & Catholic Diocese – Companion Growth Supportive Service
The concept and goal of the after-school support growth service program is to assist families in need so that parents can go out to work with peace of mind. The project aims to train school children’s self-care ability, avoid accidents when children are left alone at home, and prevent them from hanging around outside after school hours and being tempted and harassed by unscrupulous gangs, so as to reduce the pressure on grassroots families faced with work and family care. Double pressure. The foundation’s purpose is to subsidize the education of poor school children in Hong Kong, provide school children with a more comprehensive learning environment, prepare them for future development, and hope to improve the problem of intergenerational poverty.
Services include:
Each school will be assigned one supervisor and four tutors to lead students in daily activities, complete homework and review on time, which will help them enhance their learning confidence and initiative. Students can first enjoy a free refreshment prepared by the foundation, take a break to relax, and then have a relaxed communication with their tutors and other students. Professional tutors guide students to complete the day’s homework, answer their questions, and provide necessary assistance. When students encounter complex problems, the tutors will follow the school textbooks or provide further guidance to enhance the students’ understanding and mastery of the topic.
In addition to helping schoolchildren solve homework-related problems, the foundation also attaches great importance to the cultivation of personal qualities. Through regular and close communication between tutors and students’ parents, we can understand the needs of students in other aspects, hoping that children will receive better support during their growth and the functions of each family will be strengthened.
Special Courses
The Association also sincerely invited a group of enthusiastic young volunteers from different outstanding universities to carefully design a series of after-school activities to allow the benefited primary school children to explore knowledge in different fields. The curriculum includes diversified learning and developmental activities to enrich students’ learning experience. The course combines interaction, practice and application, and uses various forms of teaching activities, such as lectures, discussions, role-playing, game education, experiments and artistic creation, to guide students to deeply understand the course content and enable them to apply it in life.
During the course, we will pay close attention to the operation of the plan and the learning situation of the students, and make appropriate adjustments and improvements based on the actual situation. It is hoped that this plan will gain support and recognition from schoolchildren and parents.
