Audio Book – “Rehabilitation Manual”
The people with visual impairment in Hong Kong is growing rapidly, and some of those who are non-congenital blindness, are hidden from the service network. According to the Census and Statistics Department report, the population of visually impaired has increased by 137% from 2001 to 2014. In view of this, the Hong Kong Federation of the Blind (H.K.F.B) compose an audio book – “Rehabilitation Manual” for them. This book provide the necessary information to help them and their families to going through the difficulties. The visually impaired person can read the text and pictures by using the live pen, which in order to let them see the hope in this situation.
For the visually impaired person, the most difficulties is not how to learn the adaptation skills, but to overcome their psychological fear and powerlessness. In addition to introduce the coping skills in daily life, the book also provides an in-depth explanation of the psychological stress and emotional reactions faced by the visually impaired person. Hence, Ten Percent donated HK$30,000 to purchase the audio book and live pen, which is free for the visually impaired person, who is low-income family and with children. Through the donation, we hope to help them overcomes the difficulties in both of their life and mental development.
